The Cove & The Farm

Sometime last May or June I was introduced to two northern Wisconsin locations that I am now fondly referring to as “The Cove & The Farm.” I did not necessarily know what to expect slash what I was in for that day but my expectations were definitely exceeded. Two words. Baby. Goats.

We stopped to refuel, on multiple levels, at this gas station turned grocery store that Ron Swanson would soundly approve of, of course called FOODLAND. There was this pretty sweet set-up outside where they were grilling up burgers and pulled-pork sandwiches for people on their lunch breaks so we thought, why not, and grabbed a picnic table in the shade before we headed up to the next stop on our voyage: The Cove.

Off the coast of Lake Michigan, The Cove was beyond gorgeous but don’t be fooled by the amount of people you see in their suits. That water was actually FREEZING. Like, make-you-lose-your-breath-for-a-second-and-forget-how-to-swim freezing. We got as far as dipping our feet and walking along some rocks by the water, but when we ventured out to a large boulder to get some sun, Cheyenne decided to take a dip. She says she doesn’t regret it but the look on her face when she surfaced above the water was enough to make me not jump in after her… I maybe regret it…

So close to Green Bay, we made another pit stop on the way back to Milwaukee and had a beer at Titletown Brewery. Or I guess I had more of a beer cocktail with tequila and lime (not too bad if I recall); plus a rooftop bar with a view is a pretty nice way to end an adventure.

Till the next series I pull from the vaults. Stayed tuned.
